The triptych explores the ceremonial food trays of Vietnam’s three regions North, Central, and South. The project retells a personal story through painting, using food as a lens, in which each dish is a symbolic and metaphorical object tied to its region.
Vision
The three-layer mica structure represents three layers of time: the past (the artist’s family roots), the present (where she was born and raised), and the future (the story retold through art). Rather than simply inviting viewers to look, the work allows them to “see through” multiple layers of symbolism, revealing a visual map of Vietnamese cuisine.
Assembling
Each piece is assembled by hand, allowing the artist to slow down and reflect as the story takes shape through transparent, colored layers.
